"That hippo looks like an Asian tootsie roll." (Week 49)
Y'all I have 6 months left how
weird is that! I still feel like such a missionary infant, but at the
same time I can see that I've come such a long way. I have learned so
many life lessons. Talking to people about the gospel is so much easier.
I have seen God's love for myself and for others. I have a greater
desire to live the way God wants. I have a better view of eternity, and a
greater love and appreciation for my Savior Jesus Christ and his
infinite Atonement. It really has been an amazing ride so far. It look
forward to the next 6 months.
Monday was normal pday stuff. Then we drove to the middle of nowhere and ended up talking to this dude in a field next to an abandoned building. Not planned.
Tuesday was way spiritual for me. One of the people we are working with really opened up to us, and it was very touching for me to tell him all about God's love for him. Then at our dinner appointment the members had their French foreign exchange student over, and he was fun to talk to. But unfortunately he is very atheist.
Wednesday we did lots of service. It's was great. Till I got a really bad headache. Those seem to keep happening. Then that night some members took us to a place called lagniappe, which is pronounced lan-yap. The names here don't make any sense. Just thought y'all should know.
Thursday was zone conference!! It was actually really great. From what I remember, we talked about desire, worthiness, preparation, love, attitude, agency, and accountability. In that order. Later that night we did a thing called stewardship calls where the STLs call us and we can talk about goals and struggles and it is quite theraputic actually.
Friday morning we had interviews with President and on my goodness that was appreciated. We talked a lot about how far I've come and how I can get better. Missions really are pressure cookers of change. Then we had a meeting with the relief society president to discuss needs of the Sisters. Then weekly planning. Then we popped in at a wedding reception.
Saturday we talked to lots of people. Some were interested. Like the mail lady Diamond, and Hannah who thought we were from the show Sister Wives, and Joe who cried with us because his dogs are dying. And Kayla who was about to drive away but we knocked on her window before she could leave. We also had a lesson with Zuleyka and her boyfriend.
Sunday was a little different. A lot of it was spent with the Bishop. Zuleyka's boyfriend Jacob really wants to quit drugs, and he wants help from the Church. So us and Zuleyka met with the Bishop first to talk about how she is doing, and how she thinks Jacob is doing. Then Jacob joined, and the Bishop and Jacob talked about where he had come from, and what more he needs to do to get get to where he wants to go. There were tears all round as he testified of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and of our Heavenly Father's love for all of us, and of the realities of miracles. Jacob has a long and difficult road ahead of him if he wants to change his life, but he also has the most peace and joy ahead of him if he holds out faithful. It was amazing being in there for that meeting, and seeing the mantle of bishop work as he couciled with him.
So that's pretty much what my week was like. It was pretty good. Hope y'all are doing great. Also I'm gonna throw this out that this week is my birthday, and getting some extra emails would be a pretty great birthday present. (Or if you want to send me a letter or something my address is 25367 Riverton Ave. Denham Springs, LA 70726) So just let that guilt trip work on you;) I love you all!!! Talk to yall next week! ❤️
