“The word for ‘straw’ in Spanish made me think of you.” (Week 52)

How is everyone? I am doing pretty good. Every week seems to be the craziest week, so I should probably just stop saying that.
Tuesday was p-day and transfers. They decided to move us a day early because of the “hurricane” that was supposed to hit that night. So we made the switch, I got to know my new companion Sister White who I just love, then we emailed at the church for a little while. Then that night we got put on lockdown because of the “hurricane” which didn’t do anything, but it gave a chance to unpack.
Wednesday we spent the day with one of the young women. We went to an appointment with a family we are teaching, and it went AWESOME. We taught them the Word of Wisdom, and they said it would be hard for them, but they were willing to follow it. The husband chews tobacco, so we suggested switching to sunflower seeds, and the wife reached behind the tv and pulled out a bag of sunflower seeds, and we are all (including the husband) confused about where they came from and it was hilarious. Then that night we went to the young womans house for dinner and we got blessings and that was one of the most specific and personal blessings I have ever received. This has been a rough patch in my mission, but that is exactly what I needed to encourage me to keep going strong.
Thursday I honestly can’t remember what we did. I am behind on my journal writing. I know we did some service, and saw some people, and had a dinner appointment, but that’s all I got.
Friday we had district council. My district is so fun and I am so excited. Then when we went out to eat, we bought some food for a homeless man and he sat by us and asked us about the church and we taught him the restoration. Then that night at our dinner appointment, one of the girls there does effects makeup, so she did a fake black eye on Sister White. She texted a picture to a ward member who showed it to everyone and accidently started a serious rumor lol.
Saturday was a mess. People cancelled and I was stressed. But things calmed down and we went to stake conference with someone we are teaching and it was great. Then the mission president and wife took us and some other missionaries out to eat and that made me feel much better.
Sunday was pt 2 of stake conference. Then we went tracting later in the day and we found a flirty drug dealer who may be interested in our message, but might just be interested in us. So we aren’t going back without the elders as backup. But we also found a cute little family with adorable children that I actually have really high hopes for.
So that’s my week! I am really loving it here. Emotionally the mission is a little hard right now, but the area and the people are just amazing, and great things are happening here. I really think this will be one of my most productive areas. Thank you to everyone for all of your support and love. It really means so much. I love you all!!
