"You know how some people are social drinkers? I'm a social chocolate eater." (Week 41)
Hey hey fam. What is up? This was kind of an interesting week, but still a good one:)
Pday was fun. We emailed for a long time, then we went shopping at this place that is JUST LIKE Farmington Station back home and I was losing my mind.
Tuesday was kind of crazy for us. We had district meeting, then Sister Washburn decided to ask for a blessing from some of the senior office elders, and it was really sweet and spiritual and I was crying. Then one of the elders asked me if I wanted one, and I was like heck yeah. So they gave me one and it was so personal and it is always just so cool. I am so grateful for the priesthood. After that we had a lesson with 8 year old Chloe and went over some of the commandments. Then we had a dinner appointment and a sort of lesson with an FLDS family that wants to get baptized. That was really interesting. They come to church and believe so strongly in everything except for the current prophet and some other things. It is so hard because they are so close. Not sure how we are going to do this but should be fun.
Wednesday was good. We did service with the Elders at one of those safe houses for women. We carried furniture and sorted clothes, then we ran around in the pouring rain and got soaked. I felt so alive lol. Then we came home and showered and ate and all that fun stuff. Then we went to visit a member that is having a really hard time. He actually made an attempt on his life, and has been struggling to feel close to God lately. I was able to share my ever so small experience with depression, but I think it helped a bit. He needs prayers. After that we went to mutual and I got to meet all the youth:) They are pretty cool:)
Thursday we had ward coordination, then the ward mission leader took us and the Elders out to an Asian buffet and it was delicious. Then we did service at a nursing home painting their nails and they are so funny. Gloria is my new best friend. We had a dinner appointment, then after the dinner appointment we went to Kiki's house, a recent convert, so that I could do her eyebrows:) That was my favorite part of the day. Kiki is so funny, and some friends joined us, and it was a little party.
Friday we had service at the thrift store with the Elders, which always turns into a mini fashion show. Then we got Smoothie King, then the 4 of us went to a lesson with an investigator. That went pretty well. The only problem was we taught it outside, and it took us like 2 hours. Even though we were in the shade, I guess the heat got to me. I developed this killer headache and I felt weak and sick and going to the apartment and passing out for 2.5 hours only kind of got rid of it. I was able to make it through our dinner appointment though:)
Saturday I still had the headache, and Sister Washburn also felt sick, so we didn't do much today. The Elders came and blessed us with two things; the priesthood and with ice cream. (Yes that is two blessings in a week, but this one was different. Comfort vs healing)
Sunday was good. Lots of church, then studies and dinner. Comp study we had some really awesome conversations about joy and eternal families and Jesus and it was great.

This week was another one of those weeks where it's kind
of crazy, and not everything was perfect, but I was still able to feel
joy through it. I have been thinking a lot this week how joy isn't just
something that we hope to feel, it's something we practice and learn.
It's kind of along the same lines of "we are not earning heaven, we are
learning heaven", we are not earning joy, we are learning joy. Yes the
Lord blesses us with joy, but it is something we have to accept within
ourselves. He isn't going to force us to feel joy, and I think some
people unwittingly block the joy out. Maybe thinking that we don't
deserve it, or we will be happy later, etc. But "Adam fell that men
might be, and men are, that they might have joy." Having joy is
fulfilling the measure of our creation. I don't think I've looked at joy
quite in that way before. Sorry my thoughts are kind of scrambled. I'm
not the best writer, but I thought that was important enough to share.
Okay this is getting long so I'm going to sign off. I love
youuuuuuuuuu!!
Out of context quotes;
"Don't pull nose hairs. You could get an infection. And die."
"You know how some people are social drinkers? I'm a social chocolate eater."
"Let's have the Elders pick up bluebell and come give us blessings. That way we can eat bluebell... and be blessed..."
*elder proceeds to do sassy squats.*
"Unmarried men are a menace to society." -Brigham Young
"I gotta pull up my pants and put on a belt for motherhood, metaphorically speaking."
