"I thought you harvest caramel..." (Week 26)
Tomorrow is my 6th month mark!! That's nuts! It really seems like it is
going fast. I still feel so new. But looking back, I can see that I have
grown so much. I'm learning to become the person that God wants me to
become. This has been the greatest adventure so far. Louisiana is crazy
y'all, but it's the best. And I look forward to another year (almost) of
whatever whatever comes my way, one week at a time.
Monday we emailed, went shopping, and found the best vanilla ice cream in the whole world. It didn't look like much, but we were shocked. Then we visited a lady in the ward, then Knuteson re-dyed my hair.
Tuesday we didn't really sleep because there was a freaking mouse somewhere in our dresser, making all these scratching noises. We caught it in the morning, but it had chewed away at the inside of my drawer, so there was wood shavings everywhere, and it probably peed everywhere so I washed ALL my clothes. We also had gumbo at district meeting:)
Wednesday it was absolutely beautiful day, so we BIKED! At the time it was fun but now my legs are really mad at me. I haven't biked in a while. We contacted some of our referrals, and set up return appointments with then. We biked for about 3 hours, and got some fun pictures. After biking, we had a rather contentious dinner appointment. Someone indirectly called Sister Knuteson a son of perdition. I tried not to get involved, instead I sat there cuddling their dog. I was SO glad to finally go to sleep that night.
Thursday we tried back with some of the people we met yesterday. Not much luck. We also are still working on our area book. Then we went out with the Green's, the couple that we live with, because it was Sister Green's birthday. Then that night the Elders and us started reteaching the lessons to a less active member.
Friday was Manna House again. This time we spent the whole time in the kitchen, rather than serving the food. One really cool thing about the Manna House, because of donations, they feed 8,000 people a month on just $800. Talk about a modern day five loaves and two fishes!
Saturday was awesome! We played a co-ed softball game with the wards and I didn't suck as bad as I thought I would. Also I am now best friends with the most adorable 8 year old. Then we visited B in her mental home and she told us about her new boyfriend. They meet at the park on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Then we went to the baptism of one of the Elders investigators and that was really spiritual. Aaand there was lots of good food. The church is true.
I am over two wards, or at least I was, because on Sunday they had a special meeting to combine the two wards. Makes my life a bit easier here. Then we had a taco lunch party, then a lentils dinner party.
And that's about all! Next week is transfers, so P-day will be on Tuesday. Pretty sure I'm staying here and getting a new companion. Trying not to freak out. Knuteson and I have a good thing going. But it's in the Lord's hands so I won't fight it.
Quick shout out to Emily who is reporting to the MTC this week! You are going to be amazing in Cambodia!! And thank you friends for the video saying hi at her farewell!! That was so sweet to see your faces!!
Jesus loves you!! And I do too!!!!
Out of context quotes;
"I am the faux beauty-tician here!"
"We are from the west, we actually know how fruit works."
"You are just a natural-born cutter. NO THAT SOUNDS BAD THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEAN!"
"Fannypack doesn't replace my mother I'm sorry!"
"If you ever want to sing Come Follow Me really really slow, hit me up."
