"I’m from Southern California and I don’t know how to give!” (Week 16)

It’s 2018 Y’all!! This is my year! Or not really my year. This year is for the Lord. Pretty excited about that. But first, let me tell you about how last year ended and how this one began, shall we?
Wednesday was P-day last week. We went to the temple which is always amazing. That poor temple is getting knocked down soon and I am so sad. Then we went shopping with Sisters Johnston and Gelwix. Then Sister Bell was feeling sick so we cut the fun short and went home.

Thursday we did service at USS KIDD. Then we visited this one investigator for the first time in a while, and that was a flop. She’s not really interested in changing. Then we picked up our Roomies, and helped this lady A pack up her house. Then we had a dinner appointment, and we had jambalaya! Love that stuff. I also had my first King Cake, and I got the little plastic baby Jesus that they put in there, which I guess means I am in charge of buying the next King Cake.

Friday the most notable thing was our dinner appointment with a single 60-year-old Sister who started crying about her dating life. I really didn’t know how to help her. I don’t have that much experience with that stuff:/ lol.

Saturday us and the LSU missionaries went to A’s again, but this time we unpacked all of her stuff into her new house. We were there for about 10 hours, but we actually got a ton done. The funniest part for me was when I was sitting in a box, then Elder Roy and Elder Schow came and closed it, picked the box up with me in it, then carried me outside and set me on top of a car. I had no idea where they were taking me, so I was very confused when I popped my head out of the box and I was a lot higher up than I expected. It was pretty fun. Then we went out to eat together because we were starving.

Sunday was New Years Eve!! We did church and all that jazz. Sadly none of our investigators came to church. Then we went to dinner with the Spanish Sisters. Then we chilled with the LSU missionaries for a bit and played some games.

Monday was MY DAD’S BIRTHDAY!!! HE IS 50! WHOOHOO!! Happy Birthday Dad!!! Also it was New Years Day. We helped A some more, then did some area book work, then went to District Meeting in Gonzo. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings after district meeting, and by the time we got home it was 8 so we did comp study, then I stayed up talking to the Roomies till 11:00.

So that’s my week. It was pretty fun. The only downside is that investigator work is a little slow. I want to fix that. I hope everyone is doing just fantastic!! I am so grateful for all of the positive examples I have in my life. I was talking to another missionary, and she was telling me about how even though all her friends were Mormon, they still drank and smoked and slept around. She never did it, but she was surrounded by it constantly, and she thought it was normal. I am so grateful for my strong and faithful family and friends. Even those not of my faith, they are still good people who encouraged me to be my best. I am so glad that parties with my friends usually included Disney movies and deep conversations, rather than drugs and alcohol. Thank you all for being the wonderful people that you are. Keep being wonderful! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

Out of context quotes;
“I really want to give back, but I’m from Southern California and I don’t know how to give!”
“What is this scripture taking about… grinding up your loins?” “No that says GIRDING up your loins!”
“Why are you juggling your baby? You shouldn’t juggle babies.”
“I just wanted to get my shoulder looked at, but they put me with crazy people throwing pancakes at the wall!”
“These cookies taste like embryonic fluid.”
