"I am not about to pick a fight with the fire marshal. The fire marshal can do whatever he wants." (Week 19)
HI EVERYONE!! In my head I feel like this was a
normal week, mostly because it wasn’t as crazy as last week, but when I
actually think about what happened it was just as nuts-o as ever.
Tuesday was P-day. We emailed for like an hour,
then the library kicked us out because it was supposed to snow. And when
it snows the whole world shuts down here. So we got some lunch, then us
and 4 elders went to the mission home to play games and finish
emailing. It was pretty chill. Then that evening it started snowing, so
they had us go home and told us not to drive till the roads were clear,
which wasn’t for another few days.
So Wednesday we did fat nothing except chill in
our apartment. I did read and paint a lot, and we watched some church
movies. Not a bad time really.
Thursday once again everything was closed, but we
tried our best. We ended up doing a little bit of service, and having
dinner with Kathy again.
Friday we visited a ton of referrals, and got a
really cool new investigator from it! His name is S. Then that
afternoon/evening we had district meeting. I gave the instruction, and I
focused it around a quote by Jill Bolte Taylor (shout out to mom for
telling me her story), the quote is “Please take responsibility for the
energy you bring into this space.” And I think that is just an awesome
quote. Energy is very real, and it can also be called your spirit or
countenance. As missionaries we are representing the Lord, and the Lord
would bring good energy everywhere he went. So it is important for us,
really not just missionaries, but everyone, to be aware of the energy
they are carrying with them. Because you can control whether it is good
energy or bad energy, it’s all in what you choose. And then I talked
about patience and how we choose to be happy. It was my first
instruction and I thought it went pretty well. Then we went to Cracker
Barrel as a district ;)
Saturday we had a FIRE lesson with our
investigator C and her fiancée L. This was the first time we
taught L, and he was soo into it! He was really excited about the Book
of Mormon. He knew there was more he didn’t know, so he likes having a
new resource to study. He asked lots of awesome questions, and agreed
with everything we said. So that was cool. They have already excepted
baptism, and they might even push up their wedding date so that they can
get baptized sooner. We will see!!! Then we had a 4 hour technology
training zone conference because we are GETTING SMART PHONES FINALLY! I
am so ready. These will help out so much.
Sunday we had church and mission coordination and
all that fun stuff. We also had a dinner appointment with the Bishops
family, which was delicious. Then we had weekly planning and that fried
my brain.
Monday I hit my 1/4th mark exactly.
And we also had zone conference with A GENERAL AUTHORITY!! Elder Costa.
He is the best. He is so loving and funny and bold and a great story
teller and I left that meeting feeling very encouraged. I also made some
new friends so that was fun.
Tuesday we had a lot of appointments with
referrals, and all of them fell through. We did have an awesome lesson
with C about temples and family. I love the temple y’all. It’s
the best. Unfortunately our temple here is getting torn down in like a
week, so some people won’t be able to go for over a year :(.
Then that night we had a dinner appointment and I finally had some good
Mexican food. There are no good Mexican restaurants, so you have to
make it yourself.
Then this morning we took our roomies to
breakfast because it is Sister Jones’s birthday, and 12 other
missionaries surprised her. Then we had a tour of the LSU stadium and
that was cool. If I liked sports I probably would have thought it was
even cooler.
That’s all y’all!!!! I hope everyone is doing
great!!! Keep emailing me! Or email me for the first time! Either way:) I
love you all soooooooooooooooo much!!!!!
~Sister Danielle Reid
