"Sants know's how to be conspiratory." -Santa (Week 13)
Hello family and friends!!! This was
another fast week, which is always good. On Monday after emailing we
went to the botanical gardens, and basically walked in the woods for a
few hours. Some people didn’t like it, I thought it was pretty fun. The
leaves are actually fall colors!!! It’s so beautiful down here right
now!! Then we had a dinner appointment, then store contacting, then I
came home and painted for a while. Always a good time.
Tuesday was pretty chill. We had district
meeting. Sister Jensen gave the best spiritual thought ever. I can’t say
it as well as her, but basically she said that since Christ is the
first spiritually born son of God, he is the only one that has the
birthright to all that the father has. So while we are on earth, we take
his name upon us when we are baptized. We wear his clothes when we go
to the temple, and we do his work. So that when we get to the gates of
heaven, the guardian angel doesn’t see us, he sees Christ, and he lets
us in and we get to partake of his birthright. It was really cool. Then
we took district Christmas pictures.
After district meeting we drove with a member to an appointment with
P and T. P wants to get baptized at the end of January
(she is C’s daughter btw). After that it was already pretty late,
and it was a torrential downpour, so we tried visiting one person, then
comp study, then my friends came over! Because of exchanges we had 6
people in our apartment, and I got to hang out with Sister Jenson and
Sister Johnston who I came out with.
Wednesday we did service at the Old State
Capital and helped with tours for a huge school group. Then we tried
some referrals and made some friends. Then because it was FREEZING we
got hot chocolate and beignets at Coffee Call. Such a cute place. Then
we had a dinner appointment with a member who lives above J. Crew. Then
we shared Light the World with a member family, then night time.
Thursday wasn’t the most productive. We
went to do service at the USS KIDD, and we totally forgot that it was
the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. So there was a big
service going on and they just had us watch. It was really cool. The
soldier that the USS KIDD is named after actually died at Pearl Harbor.
Then we visited M. After that our less active J called us and
told us he was in the hospital, so we went over there and ended up
staying there way too long bc he likes to talk.
Friday it SNOWED IN LOUISIANA!!!!! It’s a
Christmas miracle!! Too bad it’s not Christmas. We woke up at 6:30 and
ran outside and played and took pictures and I was basically a toddler.
Well you can’t drive in snow down here, so we waited it out, then
visited a member in a rest home who is so nice but extremely lonely.
Then we visited K and she let us paint some ceramics. I painted a
raccoon, some foxes, and squirrel, and an owl. Then J called us asking us to visit him again, so we stopped by.
Saturday we had a lesson with J and
V. It’s been a while since we’ve been over there, but they were
excited to see us, and want to come to church once their car gets fixed.
Then we stopped by some more houses, then we had to go to j’s again
because Sister Maynard left her backpack there! We aren’t going to go
back there for a good little bit. Then that night we had the ward
Christmas party which was awesome because the members are awesome!
Sunday we had ward council. C, P, S, J, and J came to church.
Then we had mission coordination. Then we visited a referral we got
from President and Sister Varner!! She’s really cool. She used to meet
with the missionaries years ago, so we refreshed her memory of the
restoration. Then we visited some people that ward members asked us to
see. The ward members trust us!! It feels so nice. But then when we came
home, Sister Maynard and I kind of felt like crap, so we accidently
passed out while doing personal study. I woke up, ate some food, talked
to the district leader when he did call-ins, then went back to sleep.
That’s all! Not too crazy of a week, except
for the SNOW!!! We are doing a lot of less active work, and I’m liking
it. Maybe I will have more weird stories next week. They kind of keep me
going. I hope everyone is doing great!! Y’all are amazing!! Keep emailing me. I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
