“If you haven’t had someone starch your back then you haven’t lived.” (week 10)

Hello hello!! How are you? I’ve been good! I’ve been pretty busy this week, but that is always good as a missionary. Let’s just get right into it shall we?

Starting with Tuesday because that is actually when P-day was last week, after we emailed we went to the park and kind of just chilled. It was me and my comp and like 12 other elders. Most of them played soccer for a while, but I sat off to the side painting and talking about Harry Potter with the other nerds. Good times. Then we had a dinner appointment with the Jacobs, and they brought their non-member friend who is so cute and hilarious and basically should just get baptized. But she needs baby steps, so now we are just her friend.

Then Wednesday we almost pinned the governor of Louisiana into his parking spot at the Old State Capital. That was cool. Then we spent about 3 hours counting and rolling pennies. Then we found a referral who actually wanted us to teach her, so we taught Plan of Salvation and we are going back some time this week!

Thursday was a big one. We left at 9 to visit a referral, and we taught her the Restoration, and the spirit was there, and when we asked her what she thought about the first vision she said it was true and we are going back and yayyy! Then we did some service at the Old Governor’s Mansion. We serve at such fancy places! Then Maynard was feeling pretty sick so we went back home for lunch and personal study and such. Then we visited M and had a very interesting conversation about Mary Magdalene and Emperor Constantine and her and her friend getting stranded out at sea on a paddle boat. Then that night we went to a lesson with C and basically nailed it. The Martinez’s came with us, this cute young couple called as ward missionaries. They helped so much and added their testimonies and it was awesome.

Friday we headed out early again to visit a new member, and afterwards had our first district meeting with our new district! We are now with the BR East sisters, the Zone leaders, and the Gonzales Missionaries. They are all pretty fun! The rest of the day we visited people, but the biggest one was when we visited J and V. We have taught them twice before, but this is the first time they actually let us inside. We taught them the Plan of Salvation, which is perfect because apparently he has had a near death experience, and seen the spirit world. He said he has seen the throne that Lehi talks about in the beginning of the Book of Mormon, and that he actually died and talked to some of the people who have already died, and that those people were doing work on the other side. Because he already had some of the pieces, everything we said really made sense to him, and V believed it too. By the end of the lesson the spirit was basically hitting us, so we invited them to be baptized, and they accepted!!! We don’t have a date for them, we need to get them to church first, but this is really exciting!!

Saturday was another lesson with C. We taught her some of the commandments. She is so sweet. She wants to learn everything she can, because she wants to do things right and please God. Then we visited K again, a less active, had some fun there. Then we had a dinner appointment with basically the coolest person ever. Daphne is from Germany and has traveled the world and is a professor at LSU and is only in her 30’s and is awesome.

Sunday was church, mission coordination, personal study, trying a referral, sharing the Light the World message with a ward member, then the YSA Face to Face with Elder Oaks and Elder Ballard at the church. We counted that as our comp study. Then that night I literally stayed up till midnight (don’t tell pres) talking to Sister Richardson. Totally had no idea it was that late. She is so cool. She was adopted from Haiti when she was 8, and she is one of 30 kids in her family! 25 of whom are adopted! She is just so chill and funny and also a newer missionary and I love her! I am going to be a little sleepy today because 6 hours of sleep is nothing for a missionary, but it’s p-day so that’s okay!

So that’s my week! Quick shout out to my girl Emily who got her mission call to Cambodia this week! And to Kate who got her call to Indiana last week!! Represent my Sisters!! Keep shining and keep writing everyone!! I love you!!!!

Out of context quotes;
“You know what I am grateful for? My large intestine.”
“Every week we take Wonder Bread and tap water and turn it into symbols of Christ’s Atonement. How does this happen!?”
“If you haven’t had someone starch your back then you haven’t lived.”
“Jesus got that California flow” (bible videos)
