“I know many a young children willing to get knocked down.” (week 11)

Buckle up because this was a big one! All sorts of ups and downs and craziness and cool things. I am probably over-hyping my week. You might not think it is cool, but I thought it was cool. So here we go.

Monday actually wasn’t too crazy. We just hung out at the part after emailing, and we almost lost our keys at Walmart.

Tuesday we didn’t get too much stuff done. It was district meeting in Gonzales, that’s always a party. Then we went to Cracker Barrel for lunch. After lunch we went to go do service at the USS KIDD, but it was closed so we just street contacted. We talked to 2 people mostly; a former member, and a very sad drunk man.

Wednesday was a bigger one. We went to our second lesson with S, but she wasn’t home, so we tracted by her house. Second door we knocked on we met B. Biggest dude I’ve ever met. We taught him the restoration and set up a return appointment. He is awesome. Then we went with a member to pick up C for her baptismal interview!! She got all dressed up for it, and looked beautiful! She was so excited. We taught her the last lesson, about tithing and fast offerings and stuff, then our district leader Elder Lesser interviewed her, and she passed! She is so cute. She was going off about how learning about this gospel has make her and her daughter closer, and she will want to get baptized, and she already wants to send all three of her kids off on missions when they are old enough, and this is just going to be a power family. After that we had a Thanksgiving dinner at K’s house. There was some tension with her family, but the food was awesome, and we got to decorate her tree so totally worth it. After that we went to a lesson with a less active named J, and I learned a LOT about marijuana!

Thursday was Thanksgiving!! And it was awesome!! We got invited to Brunch at the Mangums. They are awesome people. Sister Mangum’s mom went off on how much she loves manly men. That was hilarious. Then we visited M. She is always so lonely, but so funny. Then we did studies. Then we went to the Marsh’s house for dinner! We went early to help set up, then we ate, then we chilled for a while singing Christmas songs. We were there for hours but there are no regrets.

Friday we helped the Jacobs clean the house they are moving into. Then we tried some referrals/tracted for a few hours. We met a drunk dude named G that tried to take us behind his bar. Then we met a really nice Jehovah’s witness named L. We will actually visit her again. She’s like 90. Then we had an interesting time with a less active named N. She wants to quit smoking, but she gets pretty upset and everyone in her house, all of her roommates (which are mostly men) started yelling at each other, and her husband threw a chair, so we decided to go. Don’t worry, we weren’t in danger. But the spirit sure wasn’t there.

Saturday was AWESOME! You wanna know why? C GOT BAPTIZED!!! She asked me to sing Amazing Grace, and when I started to sing it, she started crying, so I went and held her hand while I sang, and it was a really special moment. We hugged after, the spirit was there, it was great. Then she got baptized! Afterwards she bore her testimony, and it was so cute. My favorite part was her p.s. of “oh yeah! And the Mormon book is real!” Since the baptism I have been thinking about the fact that the first person I ever taught in the field got baptized. I was honestly so worried that I would never have a baptism. Now I don’t know if I will ever get another one, but I at least have that one person that I helped bring to Christ. After the baptism the Marsh’s took us to Wendy’s. Then we visited B again and taught him about the Book of Mormon, and he said he would be baptized if he came to know that the book was true! For dinner we went to a members house and heard about how 13 members of her family all got baptized at the same time, all from one member inviting them to her missionary discussions.

Sunday was all over the place. C was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! J, M, and N and her mother in law came to church. N left part way through to smoke, then she was in the foyer going off about the visions she’s seen and that she is her own church, then she went home. So that was weird. After church we visited a bible referral, and she is so solid!! She was so excited to see us, and loved hearing about prophets and the Book of Mormon, and she is so sure that this will answer the questions she’s had. She also said she would be baptized! I can’t wait to go back! Then we visited N to try to teach her the no-smoking lesson, but this time didn’t go so well either. She started yelling and was looking for her drugs. We asked her to pray and she asked for her stalkers to be turned into cats and dogs, so we just left again. Probably won’t go back there. Then we visited M, and that was a party. She taught us all of her beauty tips, and moisturized our faces. Then we had a sweet moment when we read from Jacob, the part where he is talking about how God will not let his daughters be mistreated. Her father and husband were not good people, and got excommunicated, so that passage really meant a lot to her. No matter how crazy she is sometimes, the spirit can still be felt. Then she was curious how I would look as a blond so she put a wig and lipstick and blush on me and had me pose. It was pretty hilarious. She told me I looked like an undercover spy. She had just taken a sleeping pill before we came, and this was when they started to kick in. Never a dull moment there.

So that’s my week!! Pretty good all around. There are some weird people out here, but I could never serve anywhere else. None of this stuff would have happened if I had stayed at home. I am just so grateful for all the weird, and all the wonderful moments. They all help me to grow so much, and they will give me some pretty awesome stories to tell my children. Well this is getting long so I am going to sign off. I love you!! The Church is true!

Out of context quotes;
“You better be careful, you could be swatted with wet cement and never get up.”
“Get in the kitchen and disrupt that metrosexual!”
“I know many a young children willing to get knocked down.”
“You look better than that bimbo Paris Hilton!”
